Josef Heiter is the antagonist of the first film, The Human Centipede (First Sequence). It's worth seeing just once as a strangely sordid & sickly amusing experience, rather like a confused bad dream! Don't expect high art here.but it might make you chuckle. It is, admittedly, surgically possible to stitch people together in this way, but they would die within days - at most - from lack of sustenance, as well as from poisoning by the ingestion of waste products, not to mention shock! Revulsion would probably make many of them tear themselves loose on regaining consciousness.īut the total effect, intentional or not, is a blackly funny film which respects nothing & nobody whatsoever. Furthermore, the human components' mouths are never even properly lined-up with the anuses of the people in front to complete this "project". The pseudo-medical theory behind the human centipede project is complete rubbish.

It's consistently sexist, racist, crammed full of bad language and some of the hammiest acting you have probably ever seen! It is clearly intended to shock or otherwise upset most viewers. It contains a few "shocking" fairly graphic moments. Boss and Butler invite Governor Hughes to the prison to show them the Human Centipede, and while Butler mainly thought it would save the prison, Boss was mainly hoping it would serve as affirmation of his positions regarding human torture as a deterrent and such. Having said this, I admit my stomach is much stronger than most, so what is meant to shock is often unintentionally funny. So, Ive only seen Human Centipede 3, but the ending was rather strange to me. Why be surprised or offended if one occasionally does just that? Taking inspiration from The Human Centipede films, the warden of a notorious and troubled prison looks to create a 500-person human centipede as a solution to his problems. Horror films are a bit like extreme funfair rides - they challenge the amount of shock your system can take & people try both in the (sometimes subconscious) hope that the next one will be just too much to take.
